About the Scheme
Following several rounds of consultation with the local community, the Parish council and Wiltshire council, The Long Field company submitted a planning application for development of the site (Land South of The Spring, Market Lavington) in November 2023. This application (PL/2023/10388) proposes up to 14 residential dwellings and a Co-op convenience foodstore onsite.
Whilst we work with the council to refine the scheme, we continue to welcome the local community to get involved and have their say on our plans. The site was allocated for development by the community in the Neighbourhood Plan, and we feel it is vital that local people stay involved and have their say on our plans.
The primary purpose of this consultation website is to inform and enable the local community to do just that!
The Co-op Decision
The Neighbourhood Plan approved the site for residential development, however after being approached by The Co-op, who said they would like to relocate within the village to a larger, more modern store, we decided to ask the community for their thoughts.
Following consultation with local people at The Annual Parish Meeting on the 23rd of May 2022 and via dialogue with local leaders including the parish council and ward members, we decided that it should be for the people of the parish to decide if this Co-op relocation should go ahead.
In December 2022, we conducted a door-to-door survey in cooperation with the Co-op to pose the question of whether this relocation should go ahead or not. From around 300 respondents, almost 80% of local people showed support for the scheme. This was conclusive in our eyes, and therefore the application was made to Wiltshire for 14 dwellings and a new Co-op!

The scheme is a collaboration between Feltham Group of Newbury and the Reynolds family of Market Lavington. The landowners have decision making authority in relation to the design and are very keen to ensure the scheme is a credit to the community.
